Dive Equipment Insurance Summary
The Scuba Service Specialists offer an Insurance Policy designed to comprehensively cover your dive gear,
both in Australia and when you travel Overseas.
A brief summar of this Insurance Policy:
AGREEMENT TO INSURE
In return for payment of the premium as quoted on the application form and in the Tax Invoice, the Insurer will
cover you for theft of, or accidental damage to your dive equipment as detailed on the application
form and the resultant policy, during the period of insurance.
ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE
The Insurer will compensate you for accidental damage to your dive equipment occurring by physical
means. This means physical damage as result of a sudden, unforeseen and unexpected event. The event must arise from
a single identifiable incident.
Accidental Damage will not be covered if the Dive Gear is being used in situations outside the
manufacturers recommendations or in conditions that would void manufacturers warranty.
CLAIMS
In the event of a claim you are required to inform us within 14 days of the event. This period may be extended
if the underwriter is satisfied that notice was given at the earliest possible opportunity.
In the event of a theft or malicious damage whether in Australia or Overseas, the event must be reported to the
Police and a report or incident number obtained and submitted with the claim.
DEPTH of USE
If the insured dive equipment is underwater camera equipment, then it
must be used within the depth limits defined by the manufacturers of the equipment used in the underwater camera
setup. The item of equipment having the shallowest depth capabilities must determine the maximum usable depth for
the setup.
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA
The insured dive equipment is covered for theft or accidental damage within Australia and its
Territories and for all other areas of the world during a return journey of no longer than 28 days. This period may
be extended beyond 28 days by payment of an additional premium. Please contact either Scuba Service

OWNERSHIP
In the event of any claim, the insured must be able to prove ownership of the equipment.
POLICY EXCESS
The insured may select the excess they wish to apply to their policy. The policy excess offered are $100, $500 or
$1000 The higher the excess, the lower the premium.
REPAIR
Damaged dive equipment must be kept and made available on request. All repairs will be
undertaken by manufacturer' authorised repairers. Should the insured have a preferred repairer for specialised or
unique equipment, a quote must be provided and submitted with the claim and approval obtained before any
repair work is undertaken.
THE EQUIPMENT
The equipment as defined in the policy is dive equipment utilised in conjunction with recreational
and commercial diving and includes:
- Stock in Trade
- Underwater Camera Equipmen
We will not insure equipment
- Dive equipment that is more than 1 month old, except for equipment that has been previously
insured by us or is accompanied by a condition report signed by an approved dealer or manufacturer's
service agent.
- That was not purchased by an Australian resident. Please contact us when
insuring equipment purchased overseas.
- That was not purchased from an approved supplier.
- That is not usually domiciled in Australia.
- Where there has been a previous claim in the last 5 years.
- Used in the mining (underground), energy, chemical and heavy industries.
THEFT
The insurer will compensate you on the terms and conditions of this policy for the theft of your dive
equipment.
Theft will not be covered in the following circumstances:
- After the period of Insurance
- When the dive equipment is located in an unlocked vehicle.
- When the dive equipment is in transit between you and a repairer not authorised by the
Insurer.
- When the dive equipment is made available to a person other than the insured, the
nominated user or a repairer not approved by the Insurer.
- In situations where the dive equipment is not travelling with you as cabin luggage, except
where airport authorities and airlines require the dive equipment to placed in the hold of the
aircraft.
- If the theft is not accompanied by forcible and violent entry or exit.
VALUE
Unspecified dive equipment: The most the insurer is liable to pay in meeting all claims under the
policy is a maximum of $2,000 per item or $20,000 in total less all excesses.
Specified dive equipment: All items with an individual value greater than $2,000 require the
insured to provide identification details as a copy of the purchase invoice or if unavailable a valuation provided
by an appropriately qualified person.
Insured value should be based on replacement value. The insurer is only required to pay upto the nominated
equipment value in the event of a claim.

The Scuba Service Specialists is a Corporate Authorised Representative for Protecsure who has a binding
authority from the insurer, Chubb Insurance Company of Australia Pty Ltd to provide equipment insurance.
The Scuba Service Specialists assist in the marketing, development and arranging of specialist insurance
products for the recreational and commercial diving industries.
HOW WE ARE PAID
The Scuba Service Specialists receive a commission to cover online marketing and advertising, assistance with
product development and other services as required.
